And when I say everything I mean everything. I remember my mother calling me in tears and saying..."I don't even have a washcloth". But you know what they did have...homeowners insurance. My father was a high school principal. We were a very happy middle class family that both of my parents worked most of my life but by the time I graduated high school my mom was lucky enough to become a stay to home mom. And you know why...because they both worked hard and saved and made good choice along the way and didn't wait for someone to do it for them.
Surely maintenance is the responsibility of the owner? It's been a decade. I'm not even a "fan" but he tried to help and give a leg back up. It's unreasonable to expect hIm to maintain these buildings a decade later. The DM needs to stop taking cash from Angelinas PR and try to be less biased against Brad Pitt. If you abandon any home or choose not to take care of it then of course it will become a dilapidated mess. This isn't Brad Pitt's fault. The homeowner is responsible for the upkeep of their home.
Give a man a fish... and he'll expect you to skin it, clean it, cook it and feed it to him. This is why handouts have the opposite of the intended effect. One must work for/earn something in order to understand the importance of taking care of it, and certainly one should not expect the upkeep to be done by those giving the handouts. This is also why some people should be tenants and not homeowners.
They are not defective! These people have lived in these homes for 12 plus years now. Most paid nothing for them. They were built to withstand winds and up to prevent flooding. Now, if there is wear and tear from years of living, that would be up to the owner to fix or replace.
