Full text of Earl Spencer's Funeral Oration
"I stand before you today the representative of a family in grief, in a country in mourning before a world in shock.
"We are all united not only in our desire to pay our respects to Diana but rather in our need to do so. For such was her extraordinary appeal that the tens of millions of people taking part in this service all over the world via television and radio who never actually met her, feel that they too lost someone close to them in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is a more remarkable tribute to Diana than I can ever hope to offer her today.
"No Need for Royal Title"
"Diana was the very essence of compassion, of duty, of style, of beauty. All over the world she was a symbol of selfless humanity. All over the world, a standard bearer for the rights of the truly downtrodden, a very British girl who transcended nationality. Someone with a natural nobility who was classless and who proved in the last year that she needed no royal title to continue to generate her particular brand of magic.
"Today is our chance to say thank you for the way you brightened our lives, even though God granted you but half a life. We will all feel cheated always that you were taken from us so young and yet we must learn to be grateful that you came along at all. Only now that you are gone do we truly appreciate what we are now without and we want you to know that life without you is very, very difficult.
"We have all despaired at our loss over the past week and only the strength of the message you gave us through your years of giving has afforded us the strength to move forward.
"Great Gift of Intuition"
"There is a temptation to rush to canonise your memory, there is no need to do so. You stand tall enough as a human being of unique qualities not to need to be seen as a saint. Indeed to sanctify your memory would be to miss out on the very core of your being, your wonderfully mischievous sense of humour with a laugh that bent you double.
"Your joy for life transmitted where ever you took your smile and the sparkle in those unforgettable eyes. Your boundless energy which you could barely contain.
"But your greatest gift was your intuition and it was a gift you used wisely. This is what underpinned all your other wonderful attributes and if we look to analyse what it was about you that had such a wide appeal we find it in your instinctive feel for what was really important in all our lives.
"Without your God-given sensitivity we would be immersed in greater ignorance at the anguish of Aids and HIV sufferers, the plight of the homeless, the isolation of lepers, the random destruction of landmines.
"Innermost Feelings of Suffering"
"Diana explained to me once that it was her innermost feelings of suffering that made it possible for her to connect with her constituency of the rejected.
"And here we come to another truth about her. For all the status, the glamour, the applause, Diana remained throughout a very insecure person at heart, almost childlike in her desire to do good for others so she could release herself from deep feelings of unworthiness of which her eating disorders were merely a symptom.
"The world sensed this part of her character and cherished her for her vulnerability whilst admiring her for her honesty.
"The last time I saw Diana was on July 1, her birthday in London, when typically she was not taking time to celebrate her special day with friends but was guest of honour at a special charity fundraising evening. She sparkled of course, but I would rather cherish the days I spent with her in March when she came to visit me and my children in our home in South Africa. I am proud of the fact apart from when she was on display meeting President Mandela we managed to contrive to stop the ever-present paparazzi from getting a single picture of her - that meant a lot to her.
"These were days I will always treasure. It was as if we had been transported back to our childhood when we spent such an enormous amount of time together - the two youngest in the family.
"Fundamentally she had not changed at all from the big sister who mothered me as a baby, fought with me at school and endured those long train journeys between our parents' homes with me at weekends.
"It is a tribute to her level-headedness and strength that despite the most bizarre-like life imaginable after her childhood, she remained intact, true to herself.
"Diana's Goodness Threatened the Media"
"There is no doubt that she was looking for a new direction in her life at this time. She talked endlessly of getting away from England, mainly because of the treatment that she received at the hands of the newspapers. I don't think she ever understood why her genuinely good intentions were sneered at by the media, why there appeared to be a permanent quest on their behalf to bring her down. It is baffling.
"My own and only explanation is that genuine goodness is threatening to those at the opposite end of the moral spectrum. It is a point to remember that of all the ironies about Diana, perhaps the greatest was this - a girl given the name of the ancient goddess of hunting was, in the end, the most hunted person of the modern age.
"She would want us today to pledge ourselves to protecting her beloved boys William and Harry from a similar fate and I do this here Diana on your behalf. We will not allow them to suffer the anguish that used regularly to drive you to tearful despair.
"Blood Family Will Protect Sons"
"And beyond that, on behalf of your mother and sisters, I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you planned.
"We fully respect the heritage into which they have both been born and will always respect and encourage them in their royal role but we, like you, recognise the need for them to experience as many different aspects of life as possible to arm them spiritually and emotionally for the years ahead. I know you would have expected nothing less from us.
"William and Harry, we all cared desperately for you today. We are all chewed up with the sadness at the loss of a woman who was not even our mother. How great your suffering is, we cannot even imagine.
"I would like to end by thanking God for the small mercies he has shown us at this dreadful time. For taking Diana at her most beautiful and radiant and when she had joy in her private life. Above all we give thanks for the life of a woman I am so proud to be able to call my sister, the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Diana whose beauty, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from our minds."

Zebra Striped Cheesecake
This hypnotic striped cheesecake made by layering a black sesame paste cream cheese filling is easier than you think.
INGREDIENTS
Crust:
To garnish:
INSTRUCTIONS
INGREDIENTS
- 3 teaspoons powdered gelatin
- 2 tablespoons water
- 3 tablespoons black sesame paste
Crust:
- 5 Oreos
- 1/4 cup pecans
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Cheesecake filling:
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese
- 3/4 cup fresh cream
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
To garnish:
- Whipped cream
- Black sesame seeds
- Mint
INSTRUCTIONS
- Sprinkle the gelatin over the water and let it bloom. Heat dissolved gelatin in the microwave at 500 watts for 30 seconds.
- Prepare the crust: Add Oreos and pecans to a plastic zip top bag. Use a rolling pin to crush into small pieces. Transfer to a mixing bowl and add melted butter. Stir to combine, then transfer to a springform pan lined with parchment paper. Press down to form the crust. Refrigerate until set.
- In a blender, add all cheesecake filling ingredients. Blend until combined, then divide mixture between 2 bowls. Add black sesame paste to one of the bowls and whisk to combine until batter is gray in color.
- Use an ice cream scoop to dollop scoopfuls of the batter in the center of the crust, alternating between white and gray.
- Refrigerate until set, then garnish with whipped cream, mint and black sesame seeds.

Fame Has Its Price and It's Time To Pay Up

Beyoncé did it. #TeamBreezy is doing it. Many before have done it. What is it? Well, a documentary that lets us regular folk in on their “real” life, in the raw. Now, some would argue that these documentaries are merely promotional bits and pieces to show the artists hard work and discipline and sprinkle in moments of “celebrities are just like us” to get you to become an instant fan, while others will argue it’s their way of telling the truth behind it all.
But the truth is, these documentaries are not necessarily enough for people watching this fame and fortune from the outside. People want more, and they want it more personal than ever. That’s where (I guess) the paparazzi come in.
Recently, Evan Rachel Wood went all “I am Mama bear, hear me roar” on Twitter when it came to her attention that a paparazzo went onto the roof of her hospital and photographed a very intimate shot of her holding her ultrasound photo as she was leaving her appointment. Of course it was posted. And, of course, it went viral and instantly the argument began: “Well, she’s a celebrity. That’s part of the job.”
A friend at HelloGiggles made a great point: “If she didn’t have it in her hand, it would’ve looked like any of those ‘celebs running errands’ photos. But it’s definitely interesting because this felt like an invasion of privacy.” Which brings me to discuss a documentary I just recently saw called $ellebrity (get it? “sell, sell, sell!”). In this, you will see obsession, compulsion and a total lack of privacy at a click of a paparazzi or regular fan’s button. Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston and Sheryl Crow are some of the many interviewed on the idea of celebrity photographers and the lack of ethics involved on their end solely based on the argument, “Well, you’re famous. It’s part of the job.” But, truthfully, it isn’t. Right?
A celebrity working the red carpet is working. A celebrity getting coffee in week-old pajamas is living their life. But, for some reason there is money to be made in the avenue of a crappy looking celebrity walking around in their neighborhood on their down time. It wasn’t like this before. Before celebrity starlets in the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s had class, style and mystery. But in the mid ’80s, magazines began to surface, like The National Enquirer, to show the world the absurd obsessions of lies people are willing to endure for a little entertainment value. And there spawned the many thousands of other publications dedicated to (for lack of a better term) invasive/crap reporting for a buck.
An incredible line from the documentary is: “Anyone can get a camera. There is no way they are a journalist.” And, I have to agree. Anyone from, my 10-year-old niece to a man climbing over J.Lo’s wall to get a intimate shot of her laying out by the pool on her own property, can claim this is their job as a “journalist.” But, the abuse of the term “journalist” won’t end so long as it’s being fed to the masses the way it is, and working. “We build someone up in order to tear them down.” And, that couldn’t be more true when laid out in this doc. Think of all the times you have seen comments on YouTube videos posted anonymously that are degrading and mean, for no reason other than the fact that person that put up the video ‘asked for it” by posting it to the internet. Man, what an insane culture we are apart of nowadays.
Truth be told, fame comes with a price, but those celebrities fighting back in court or moving out of LA to live normal lives are on the right path. But Lord help us all when the rest of America gets paparazzi in their town.
No one is safe. Fact.

Why doesn’t KAT-TUN's Kamenashi Kazuya want to start up a Twitter account or a blog to interact with fans?
According to 'Shueisha Magazine', the star explained, “After I started working (in the entertainment business), I can no longer go outside without wearing sunglasses. I wonder why - I've been in danger of getting caught many times, but no one has yet.”
He continued, "Someone working in entertainment who reveals too much about what they do in their private life - it's a bit like a magician telling people how their trick works before they do it, isn't it? (laughs) Still, having said that, I don’t think anyone’s trying to deceive others. I don’t think they’re deliberately trying to keep a secret or create a certain image."
Wrapping up, Kamenashi mused, “There’s something beautiful about keeping certain aspects of your life hidden. Maybe people and clouds are beautiful because you can’t see everything.”

Japan Academy Prize Best Actress recipient Inoue Mao is back in the mystery-drama Tomorrow's Promise - 明日の約束! Fuji TV with Hijikata Masato as director will feature Inoue as a high school counselor named Aizawa Hinata.
Hijikata, as a director has established a good reputation throughout his career. Among his projects are Ghostwriter (with Nakatani Miki) and The After-Dinner Mysteries (Sakurai Sho). He debuts as a director in 1997, so Inoue and her drama are in good hands.
Also in the cast are Kudo Asuka, Shinkawa Yua, and Oikawa Mitsuhiro.

Japan Academy Prize Best Actress recipient Inoue Mao is back in the mystery-drama Tomorrow's Promise - 明日の約束! Fuji TV with Hijikata Masato as director will feature Inoue as a high school counselor named Aizawa Hinata.
Hijikata, as a director has established a good reputation throughout his career. Among his projects are Ghostwriter (with Nakatani Miki) and The After-Dinner Mysteries (Sakurai Sho). He debuts as a director in 1997, so Inoue and her drama are in good hands.
Also in the cast are Kudo Asuka, Shinkawa Yua, and Oikawa Mitsuhiro.

Cheesy Baked Macaroni

Ingredients
Tomato meat sauce
White sauce
Instructions
Serves: 6
Ingredients
- 1 lb. macaroni
- ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Tomato meat sauce
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 Knorr beef cube
- 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 small green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 small yellow onion, cubed
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
- 1 lb. tomato sauce
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
White sauce
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups fresh milk
- ½ cup quick melt cheese
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Set aside.
- Cook the tomato meat sauce by heating oil in a pot.
- Sauté the garlic, onion, and bell pepper for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef. Continue to cook until it browns.
- Add the Knorr Beef Cube. Stir.
- Pour the tomato sauce in the cooking pot. Stir and let boil.
- Sprinkle some salt and ground black pepper. Continue to cook for 5 minutes. Set aside.
- Prepare the white sauce by melting the butter in a pot.
- Add the all-purpose flour. Stir until the flour absorbs the butter and lumps are formed.
- Pour the milk in the cooking pot. Continuously stir the mixture while heating the milk until the flour dilutes completely. You can use a wire whisk while mixing to make the texture smooth (be careful with the Teflon pot though, if you are using one).
- Add the quick melt cheese. Continue to stir until the cheese completely melts and is well blended with the mixture. Turn the heat off.
- Arrange the macaroni in a mixing bowl. Pour the tomato meat sauce in and then mix well. Add a few tablespoons of the white sauce in the bowl along with some shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
- Arrange the macaroni mixture on a baking pan. Top with remaining white sauce. Make sure to spread the sauce all over to cover the top.
- Preheat oven to 375F. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
- Remove from the oven. Serve.
- Share and enjoy!

I find it very absurd that a CM contract has some restrictions on marriage or pregnancy. I get that divorce might be bad publicity but marriage or pregnancy...?? Yes, being pregnant has an effect when you are shooting a movie but for a cm..
I just don't get the image Japan has on women. Or even with idols, actors, any famous person. Like so many agencies forbids even dating (or making it public) because of fans. Imagine if that was the case with e.g. American celebrities. Imagine if everytime Taylor Swift started dating a guy and she had to make an video for her fans, cry, apologise and shave her head...

Ilang araw matapos ang aksidente, humarap sa camera ang ina ng pamilyang naipit sa kotseng nabagsakan ng cement mixer sa Mindanao Avenue sa Quezon City. Ikinuwento niya ang mga huling sandali ng asawa.
Tagos sa puso ang pag-iyak ni Marife Ramos at may ilang beses siyang kinailangang uminom ng tubig para kalmahin ang sarili habang kinukuwento ang nangyaring aksidente noong Martes sa Mindanao Avenue.
Humihingi siya ng tawad sa kanyang asawang si Ulysses Ramos.
“Hon, pasensiya ka na di ka namin natulungan… di ko rin kaya, kahit ako di ko kaya. Sorry na, sorry talaga,” hinagpis ni Marife.
Kuwento ni Marife, magkasama silang mag-asawa na pumunta ng bangko bago mangyari ang aksidente. Matapos nito ay kinuha nila ang bulldog na binili ni Ulysses bilang surpresa sa mga bata.
“Sobrang tuwang-tuwa siya doon sa dog tapos sabi niya matutuwa ang mga anak natin dito,” ani Marife.
Nagdesisyon silang isama ang mga bata, pati ang aso para mag-grocery at sumakay ang mag-anak sa kanilang kotse.
Si Ulysses ang nag-drive at katabi niya ang panganay nilang anak. Sa likod ni Ulysses umupo si Marife at katabi naman niya ang dalawang mas maliliit na bata.
“Natatandaan ko lang na doon sa loob ng kotse ang saya saya nila, ang saya saya namin. Tinitignan ko lang silang mag-aama,” lumuluhang kuwento ni Marife.
“Tapos na ano ko lang doon sa pinakaaksidente, ramdam na ramdam ko ‘yung pagtulak sa amin, sinilip ko sa likod. Biglang nabasag agad ‘yung salamin naming sa likod. Tapos biglang nag-'eeer', gumanu'n sa ulo ng asawa ko. Ramdam na ramdam ko na gumano'n sa ulo niya lahat,” paglalarawan ni Marife.
Salaysay pa ni Marife, nag-iyakan ang kanyang mga anak, natulala na lamang siya at napasambit siya ng “my God, oras ko na.”
Aniya, wala na siyang magawa noong mga panahong iyon kundi ang magdasal.
“Ako lang ang salita ng salita sa loob, ang asawa ko, ramdam na ramdam kong hinawakan niya ‘yung paa ko parang kinomfort niya ako na ‘please, cool down ka,” ani Marife.
Mainit aniya sa loob ng kotse at hindi niya alam kung paano tutulungan ang kanyang asawa at mga anak.
Tumagal ng dalawang oras bago sila nahatak sa sasakyan. Ligtas ang mag-iina pero kalaunan ay binawiaan na ng buhay si Ulysses.
“So blessed kasi parang hanggang sa huling pagkakataon... mas pinili niya sigurong sabihin sa Diyos na ‘ligtas mo lang ang mag-iina ko,’ kahit siya na magsakripisyo,” aniya.
Nakatakdang ilibing si Ulysses Ramos sa darating na Linggo.
Sa ngayon, hindi pa alam ni Marife kung paano mabuhay nang wala ang kanyang asawa pero ipinagdarasal niya na sana balang araw ay maintindihan niya kung bakit nangyari ito sa kanyang pamilya.
