Who was the first person to see Brad Pitt naked? Here’s the story and the spot where it happened

SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA -- He remembers the trip to the 3rd floor operating room as being a lot easier.

52 years ago Dr. Jodie Edge was a younger man, and the elevators still worked at the old ACH Hospital in downtown Shawnee.

"My main function," he recalls, "was working in the clinic and delivering babies. It was busy. The beds were full."

But with a little effort and oxygen the good doctor got another look at the room where he brought thousands of babies into the world.

One of them was his third son, another one a priest who officiated his second marriage, and the third is a well known movie actor named Brad Pitt.

"My claim to fame," he chuckles.

It would be a better story if Dr. Edge remembered anything about that December day in 1963 when he helped Jane Pitt deliver her son.

He does recall the birthing business as being very different from now.

"You kept late hours. You did your own deliveries," he says.

Edge worked her for 11 years and estimates he was on hand for close to 3,000 births.

Of bringing someone into the world, Edge says, "It's kind of a magical moment. Very interesting."

A few years back someone figured out the connection between Edge and Pitt.

At the time, Jodie recalls saying, "Who's Brad Pitt?"

The old ACH is empty now and for sale, if you're interested.

Brad will be 53 this year.

Dr. Edge will be 90 on Valentines day, 2016; known as the person who first saw Brad Pitt naked, the first to pat his bottom, and responsible, in a way, for millions of hearts that beat for him, if only for the length of a movie.

Of the mothers and babies he helped over the years, Edge says, "They're like family."

Dr. Edge spent more than 50 years in psychiatry after his days as a birthing doctor ended.

Not long ago he received a card in the mail from Bill and Jane Pitt thanking him for the help bringing Brad into the world.
