5 TRICKS TO LOOKING SKINNY

Black Cropped Pants

Corporate gals, Francophiles and just about anyone who shops at the Gap knows the life-changing benefits of a cropped pant. First of all, a hint of ankle is always flattering. (It’s your leg’s smallest part.) Secondly, black is ubiquitously slimming. Finally, they pair well with literally everything.

Fit-and-Flare

You don’t need an hourglass shape to reap the benefits of this silhouette. A fit-and-flare dress is fitted at the waist but flares out into an A-line style below. In other words, it nips you at your smallest part and hides any misgivings in the hip or thigh area.

The V-Neck Top

The open, upside-down triangle creates a high focal point up and away from your midsection and gives the illusion of a longer, slimmer upper body. The more skin displayed between chin and chest (within reason), the more elegant your proportions will seem overall. Also of note: Wider V-necklines visually balance broad hips and thighs.

A Structured Blazer

Never underestimate the power of a blazer. The crisp straight lines and narrow lapels can work magic to slim and counteract curves. Wear yours open over a V-neck tank and dark-wash jeans or toss it over a shift dress.

The Waist Belt

Believe it or not, a good belt can slenderize just about any look. Use it over a shift dress, trench coat or long vest to wrangle excess fabric and create the illusion of an hourglass figure.
