jeffortega I’m guilty of being “always busy” so it was such a pleasure to disconnect myself from work and social media for an entire day yesterday! Happy Birthday, Brad Pitt!

Like most of us, actor Brad Pitt didn’t have the best year. We don’t need to delve into the details, (his split from Angelina Jolie clearly signaled the imminent end of life as we know it) but suffice it to say, Pitt’s 2016 was as dismal as everyone else’s (barring Beyoncé, of course).

That being said, we’re wishing Pitt nothing but happiness ahead in his 53rd year (5-3, no joke). Considering that he has two big-budget films in the works (World War Z 2 and War Machine—we’re sensing a theme…), success appears to be on the horizon.

The actor’s decade-spanning career has taken him everywhere a dynamic actor could ever hope to go (from within the ring in Fight Club to the frontlines of World War II in Allied)—and, thankfully for his loyal fans, Pitt has made sure to embrace most roles fully, and often without a shirt. **WINK, WINK**

Happy birthday, Brad Pitt! It’s one of our favorite Hollywood hunks birthdays, and so we’re obviously celebrating by bringing together all of his hottest pictures for your viewing pleasure! Sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Brad, you don’t look a day over 25! No seriously, you actually don’t. What’s your secret?

We don’t know how he does it, but Brad Pitt has definitely gotten hotter with age and now, we are celebrating him in all his glory for his 53rd birthday on December 18, 2016.

Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1963, Brad is a college drop-out who left University of Missouri two weeks before graduation to pursue a career in acting. With a number of supporting roles and guest appearances throughout the late ’80s, Brad rose through the acting ranks and eventually began to capture the eyes and hearts of America — namely, the women.

Since his supporting role in Thelma & Louise in 1991, Brad was labeled an international sex symbol. In ’95, he was named one of the top 25 sexiest stars in film history by Empire, and was People’s Sexiest Man Alive that same year, a title he won again in 2000.

From there, he thrived. From his dark and brooding role in Fight Club, to his sexy, witty Ocean’s Eleven character, Brad has a number of sexy moments that are totally worth looking back on.

One of our faves is from the 1994 film, The Favor. Brad, who plays an unstable artist in a tumultuous relationship, shows off his signature blonde locks and a pair of wire-rimmed glasses throughout the film. And that moment he takes off his shirt to draw…Mmm-mmm, good.

Another worth mentioning is long-haired Brad in Troy. Brad plays Achilles, the ultimate Greek hero, so he obviously got in ridiculous shape and looks like a sex God. Thank you, Brad. Between the long hair, chiseled abs, and light scruff — 2004 may have been the year Brad peaked.

While the last six months haven’t been the best for neither Brad nor his family, we hope he has a wonderful birthday and finds some time to celebrate!

Feast of the Guardian Angels

The Feast of the Guardian Angels is a feast of the Catholic Church officially observed on 2 October. In some places, the feast is observed on the first Sunday in September with the permission of the Vatican.^[1] Catholics set up altars in honor of guardian angels as early as the 4th Century, and local celebrations of a feast in honor of guardian angels go back to the 11th Century.^[2] The feast was first kept by the Franciscan order in 1500.^[3] However, it was not placed in the General Roman Calendaruntil 1607 by Pope Paul V. The papal decree establishing the feast was cosigned by Robert Bellarmine, which has led some scholars to speculate that the feast was created under the influence of the Society of Jesus.^[4] It was originally ranked as a double. Clement X elevated it to the rank of an obligatory double, and, finally, Leo XIII raised the feast to the rank of a double major.^[1] Since 1976, it has been ranked an obligatory memorial.^[5] The feast is also observed by some Anglo-Catholics within theAnglican Communion and most churches of the Continuing Anglican movement.

On October 2, 1795, Pius VI granted 100 days of indulgence for making the Devotions to our Guardian Angels and Patron Saints, as well as a plenary indulgence on the actual feast day to those who make the devotion twice a day for an entire year. The Devotion reads:

O Angel of God, to whose holy care I am committed by the supernal clemency, enlighten, protect, defend, and govern me. Amen.^[6]

John XXIII wrote a Meditation for the Feast of the Guardian Angels, which reads, in part:

We must remember how admirable was the intention of divine Providence in entrusting to the angels the mission of watching over all mankind, and over individual human beings, lest they should fall victims to the grave dangers which they encounter.^[7]

The Feast of the Guardian Angels was of seminal importance to Josemaría Escrivá, who considered himself to have been inspired by God to foundOpus Dei on October 2, 1928. The significance of the day of his inspiration was evident to Escrivá, who believed that it was a sign that the work of the order would be carried out under the protection of angels.^[8] Escrivá dated his discovery of "spiritual childhood," a notion which is, according to John Coverdale, "the foundation of the spirit of Opus Dei," to October 2, 1931. According to Escrivá, this idea also came to him while he was praying to his guardian angel.^[9]
