When she began adopting kids from all over the world
Angelina Jolie has a thing for adopting kids from third-world countries, beginning with Maddox in 2002. It seems nice. She takes these kids and gives them better lives than the ones they'd have in their home countries. However, she essentially started, or helped to start, the fad of celebrities adopting children from other parts of the world, like Madonna, who thinks you can just take them if you like (seriously, Google it). But in addition to bringing these kids into her life, Jolie basically carried them around with her just about everywhere she went, almost like they were fashion accessories.
When she married Billy Bob Thornton
Jolie's marriage to her second husband Billy Bob Thornton, which lasted from 2000 until 2003, is one of the most famously mismatched couples in Hollywood history. But what's really freaky isn't just the fact that they didn't seem like they belonged together. It's the stuff they did together. Besides their infamous limo sex and her getting his name tattooed on her arm, there's also the blood and razor blades thing. That's right: she used to wear a vial of his blood around her neck. According to Thornton, when he spoke to Loyola Marymount students in 2014, Jolie "thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck." While the sentiment behind that can possibly be described as romantic, that action? It's enough to give anyone the heebie-jeebies.
When she screamed at the bushes
No, Jolie hadn't gone senile when she began screaming at bushes. She was actually preparing for her role in Maleficent. According to what Jolie told Us Weekly in 2014, she "would go outside and scream at the bushes to expand [her] voice and play with [her] voice." In addition to screaming at shrubbery, Jolie also practiced the voice she used for the character at an odd time, when she gave her kids baths, which is essentially when they're at their most vulnerable. Hey Jolie, sure, you have to work, and you've got quite the dedication to your craft…but they're your kids, not practice dummies. It's a good thing she's rich, because they're probably going to need plenty of therapy in the future.
When She Stole Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston
Jolie has stated a few times that she didn't actually steal Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston, telling Vogue magazine back in 2006 that she and Pitt didn't formally hook-up until after his relationship with Aniston ended in 2005. And she also has said that she'd never want to be with a man who left his wife for another woman. But that's what essentially happened, no matter how much semantics and circular logic you put into it. So this means that either Jolie is a liar and hypocrite, or she has no control over her own actions. And if she doesn't control them…who does? Maybe the secret's in the bushes.
Her knife collection
It shouldn't be too surprising to learn that Jolie likes to play with knives. This is a woman who wore her husband's blood on a chain around her neck, after all. But knowing about the blood thing makes the knife thing that much more disturbing. Jolie's fascination with sharp objects began when she was a child, and as she got older, they became more and more sexualized for her, according to an interview with 20/20. Even more disturbing, she bought a knife for her son Maddox when he was seven, according to the Telegraph.
When she made out with her brother
Usually, when siblings kiss, it's a simple peck on the cheek. But back in 2000, after Jolie won an Academy Award for her role in Girl, Interrupted, the actress celebrated by giving her brother James Haven a big ol' smooch on the lips, to put it lightly. And there didn't appear to be anything simple or harmless about it. It was kinda creepily passionate, and it sparked some incest rumors. It was later revealed to the Mirror by a family friend that the kiss occurred because that day was also the first day of their mother's cancer treatments. So there were a whole lot of emotions going on that day. But this revelation, which should have come out the next day, didn't come out until 2014. Why the long wait? And still…is that even much of an explanation?
