Brad Pitt was back in the spotlight on Sunday night, lapping up the applause at the Golden Globes after months of divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie.
The 53-year-old actor took to the stage to introduce a clip from Moonlight, a film which he helped produce and which went on to win the Best Motion Picture in the Drama category.
"It’s born of the courage of a group of actors willing to strip to their souls and express their humanism inside mistake and misstep and misdeed," he said of the film.
"It is Barry Jenkins profound belief that we all stand at the threshold of change and forgiveness where we only grant acceptance and love to ourselves," he concluded.
His surprise appearance was greeted with a huge round of applause from the Hollywood audience, especially from friend Matt Damon.
The warm reception did not go unnoticed by those following on social media.
"Apparently Brad Pitt got custody of the Hollywood friends in his divorce from Maleficent," journalist Tony Bravo wrote, alluding to a character played by Jolie.
Other noticed the difficult past few months had not taken their toll on his looks.
"Brad Pitt seems to be tapping into his Benjamin Button superpowers and aging in reverse," another Twitter user wrote.
Jolie filed for divorce in September after Pitt was involved in a disturbance during a private flight with his family.
Pitt was exonerated when investigations by the FBI and Department of Children and Family Services concluded no action was necessary.
Jolie cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
