Haven't we heard enough about this person already? How much more attention does she need? I subscribe to the NY Times in order to escape news about Hollywood celebrities.

A big article about A. Jolie's marriage made me wonder what the world is coming to, when the largest photo on the front page is this rather than a focus on the other pressing issues in the world.

The front page, center, of the New York Times, sports a glam shot of Jolie. Way to ruin my day.

Really? With everything going on the world right now, the NYT puts this puff piece on Jolie on the "front page" of my online
Paper? This, on the heels of the article on the Marie Antoinette-ish "vegetable gardens" in the Hamptons. Maybe I should just be subscribing to Country Life instead....

The death of American journalism. NYT was once a great publication. Now its reduced to click-baiting.

NY Times feeding into her narcissism. Poor baby. She is going to save the world. What's next? Her experience of eating a chocolate ice cream cone and how it changed her view on ice cream, chocolate, cones, and saving the world.

Is there a "public appetite for salacious details of her personal life" or is it a media appetite? Glamazon? Vixen? Sounds more like a rag than the NYT.

This is plainly and simply good PR handed to Jolie.Why is the Times playing along? I didn't sign up for this stupidity and hence, expect a partial refund of my subscription.

I became a “breast cancer survivor” this past spring. Five years! And no I don’t have pink license plates etc.
Being an MD I asked the “breast specialist” (He laughed at the term!) while he was doing an exam and ultrasound searching for any further signs of a tumor, “How had the Angelina Jolie's NY Times editorial affected his practice?”
He stopped examining me and groaned. “I felt as if I had made the cover of a pop tabloid! It was AWFUL! No matter how I explained breast cancer to patients they always retorted with 'But Angelina says...' Or worse they used the portmanteau of Brangelina and then I was REALLY lost!”
He went on to tell me that more unneeded bilateral mastectomies were done in the USA in the following year after Jolie’s editorial than his colleagues ever could have imagined. They finally broke down and did the unneeded surgeries. He said he had two partners who quit breast surgery and went back to doing gall bladder and colon surgeries. They refused to “mutilate” any more women unnecessarily. Saying “Let’s watch this” was verboten.
Jolie is pretty much despised by most breast cancer specialists I have met.
My family even insisted that I SHOULD get the same surgery as Jolie. My twin sister actually said “What does YOUR doctor know more than Angelina does?”
Celebrities! I will NEVER understand the fascination. Perhaps it’s because I’ve had patients who were “stars” and I knew how terribly boring or worse “normal" they actually were.

I think Angelina is always that weido next door you can't stand. She is just really pretentious in everything she does. Brad appears genuine and owns his mistake. It takes two to break a marriage. Angelina never owns her mistake. she definitely has fault in the breakup. But she doesn't admit her problem. She just blames men in her life. She divorced 3 times. she really needs sit down and think maybe she is the problem and she needs improvement. If she doesn't do that, she will never find happiness. No one is perfect including her.

How disgusting to read all this, people do not like it for no reason. She had long planned a divorce, she slandered Pitt, bought the press, which she is doing now. I have no sympathy for her, she is not a victim, Jolie tries to manipulate people through the media, it's so obvious. This article does not change anything .....

Angelina is the person never goes into a marraige thinking of long term. All her 3 marriages last 2-3 years. She doesn't understand the meaning of marriage. Marriage is never " for better or for worse", to her it is only for better, when it gets worse, she just quits. She never wants working out the problems via conseling or therapy. She just wants out. She should never marry.

I will always be on Brad's side, he's a good man and this is all very unfair.!I hope he still meets a good woman who will sincerely love him.

"Destruction of her image"?!? Yeah right. She's a home wrecker. Even before she fooled around with a then married to Jennifer Aniston Brad Pitt, she stole Billy Bob Thornton from his fiancé Laura Dern.

Brad admitted his mistakes whether they were embarrassing for him or not. Has Angie? If so, they have been few and far between. The difference was that Angie set out to destroy his reputation instantly and it backfired on her plain and simple. She tried to make him out as some villian from the get go. He didn't retaliate against her, try to ruin her, and even cooperated with what she asked. He sought help for his issues and made the necessary changes. Those actions spoke to their fans louder than her words against him. If Angie was so worried about protecting the children she would not have tried to drag their fathers reputation through the mud. Now, I do not know either of them of course, but she gets what she deserves because of her actions and the things she has said and done against Brad. She could of simply handled the situation privately if she wanted out. Look at Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, those two knew how to handle their business and still treat each other with respect at the same time for the sake of their children.

In the article, I saw reluctance to buy a home for her children, whom she has been traipsing around the world all their lives; that she won't send them to school; that they take care of her. Her staff, not Jolie, takes care of them. The reporter bought into this Hollywood hype at which Jolie excels.

This read like a Eugene Levy-Christopher Guest comedy farce. Ignoring the movie she made, she was wholly laughable in this interview.

Ms. Jolie notes that her kids have not just a treehouse, they have a "parkour treehouse" behind their $25 million mansion. And she's a humanitarian.

Just be pretty, and you can get away with almost anything.

Let me say let me say from the outset I have a firm belief people should do with their wealth what they wish. However, I grow increasing weary of hypocrisy. Could she not have purchased a more modest - let's say $10mm estate - and given the other $15mm to her cause, or does she just what everyone else to? This is analogous to celebrities flying to Davos to press for climate issues traveling in private jets rather than reducing their carbon footprint by flying commercial - or attending via video conferencing.

For all her incredible beauty, status and interest in humanitarian issues, there's one thing she can't escape, being so utterly staggeringly dull.

I want to not be so cynical of her, but a very large part of me sees all her family is first facade as more self-serving than meets the eye. Yes, of course her humanitarian efforts in Cambodia, etc., can't be knocked; she is doing good work there. But the family part.......she reminds me of Mia Farrow, who couldn't stop herself from building her family bigger and bigger until she had no control. She was a bit wacky as well. I fear for the Jolie-Pitt kids because I think there's lots of trouble ahead for the entire family. Just because she keeps her voice calm and quiet doesn't mean things are calm and quiet in that house.

I am not a fan of her as I see her as some one seeks attention at all times, And If the plight in other countries so concern you why live in a 20 Million dollar home in Hollywood . All show biz ! Sorry but we have many plights her as well and children needing parents .

How much better would we view Ms. Jolie if the story were how she struggled her entire life in anonymity to "save the world"?

What an actress. And director, directing precisely how she wants people to see her. Never got her allure. Never will.
Look, I love a strong woman doing selfless, meaningful work for the world (but she didn't get elected did she). Jolie just seems a tad too twee, twisting the pop media machine to make herself appear endearingly (and more and more like Audrey Hepburn: the real deal). Maybe when she jettisons the whole Hollywood thing, donates her riches (who needs a $25 mil pad - which she makes herself in the purchasing sound like a welfare mother moving into section 8 housing to get her and the kids away from an alcoholic husband), and focuses specifically on the issues she champions, then I might have a change of mind.
BUT she seems to have "man" issues, flinging any one off like a dictator when he displeases her. A heated argument between father and son, mom probably not backing dad igniting dad's ire at son because son's taking advantage of mom's implicit siding with son. Have a hard time believing Pitt is the evil actor worthy of destroying a relationship and family over. Ever hear of loyalty, sticking through thick and thin. That's rhetorical. Jolie seems like a my way or the highway type with men littering the scree.
O, then there's the home-wrecker Jolie. What a character.

Her love of humanity? You must mean her love for self-promotion. So she loves her kids. Who doesn't? And she sees injustice somewhere in the world. Who doesn't?
Funny how her concerns always pop up while she selling her latest Hollywood movie. Strictly for the rubes.

Teenagers should be out and about exploring the world on their own terms, with their own friends, not traipsing around the world without the structure of school-holiday cycles, being dragged into their egocentric parent's projects.

I'm so tired of their lying PR! This is the same woman who said that Brad was a wonderful father and husband. How has he become an executive producer, when that position is reserved for the person who brings in the funding for the money. In other words, she paid for the movie.

If you think about it deeply and pay attention to the unconscious links. Her true level of disturbance is apparent in the title of the film alone - 'First They Killed My Father'. She is the seductive mother, who has killed off the children's father and the son has stepped in. Wasn't it this son Brad was trying to discipline and instead stood accused? I'm glad people are seeing through her finally. I can honestly say I have always deemed her as someone you could never trust. She's just not stable.
