The actor was joined by Paramount Picture’s chairman and CEO Brad Grey for a pair of red carpet events.

It was Pitt's first official promotional visit in China in many years. He had been persona non grata in the country since he played Heinrich Harrer in Seven Years in Tibet, a movie disliked by the Chinese authorities, as it includes an account of the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950 and subsequent ousting of the region's religious leader, the Dalai Lama, long considered a dangerous separatist by Beijing.

Brad Grey and Brad Pitt on stage during the Shanghai premiere of Allied. Outside of the spotlight, Grey was taking high level meetings in Shanghai regarding Paramount’s upcoming slate. News from the meetings is expected to be announced in the next couple of months.
SHANGHAI THEATER
A fans-eye view from inside the Shanghai theater were Allied premiered. The period thriller stars Pitt and Marion Cotillard as intelligence officers who fall in love and start a family, but run into marital trouble when WWII breaks out in London.
